Metal Washers Seed Phrase Evolution: From Blockmit to BitJig

In the dynamic pursuit of perfecting the art of stamping washers using metal stamps, we have embarked on a transformative journey from the renowned Blockmit to our groundbreaking creations, BitJig and BitJig Double. Along this voyage, we’ve confronted challenges and surpassed obstacles to create devices that not only deliver superior results but also offer an enhanced and reliable stamping process. Join us as we guide you through this evolution that culminates in a cutting-edge solution.

Blockmit: A Promising Idea with Limitations

Initially, Blockmit seemed like an ideal solution: compact, easy to manufacture, and simple to use. However, upon subjecting it to various mnemonic phrases stamping scenarios, the results fell short of our expectations. Depending on the source of acquisition or printing of the metal dies, tolerances could hinder proper fitting or result in excessively loose washers. Yet, the primary setback lay in the absence of a robust fastening method, which could even cause the washers to shift during the stamping process. While it was feasible to produce backups using Blockmit, the outcomes were generally inconsistent and “not that good”.

Emergence of Alternative Solutions: Overcoming Challenges

Following Blockmit, alternative solutions emerged, such as systems for engraving on metal bars or variations that also employed a fastening system similar to ours, as seen in the creation by MlePh. However, during the design phase of our stamping jigs, we identified issues with these systems. A recurring challenge was washers jamming when attempting to secure them, making it difficult to release them due to deformations caused by impacts. This is where the design of our BitJig and BitJig Double comes into play: incorporating lateral grips that facilitate easy unlocking. Yet, the most concerning issue was the durability of the base. Addressing the durability issue of the base proved even more crucial, as it often experienced breakage with continuous usage. To remedy this, we designed the whole system from scratch and opted for high-durability materials within the base. We incorporated improvements which are not noticeable from outside, adding a double material base with a special attachment just below the washer location.

Other Market Options: HEX and Beyond

It’s worth mentioning that there are other market solutions akin to Blockmit, such as HEX supports, which feature multiple holes for using different sizes of metal dies. This enhancement aligns with the introduction in our BitJig Double, allowing for the use of two die sizes, especially beneficial for individuals already possessing metal dies and seeking to ensure compatibility with the stamping jig during purchase.

BitJig and BitJig Double: Setting a New Fastening Standard

Our devices represent an evolutionary leap, conceived from scratch to surpass all existing similar solutions. The inclusion of lateral grips for simplified locking and unlocking, enhanced base durability, and visual indicators for rotation directions during locking and unlocking exemplify our approach to tackling the identified challenges in previous solutions. Moreover, our BitJig Double introduces the versatility of accommodating two sizes of metal dies, improving compatibility in case the user already has a set of stamps available.

Conclusion: Cutting-Edge Solutions Within Reach

In conclusion, the evolution from Blockmit to BitJig and BitJig Double marks a pivotal moment in the history of stamping washers using metal dies. We’ve elevated every aspect, presenting an exceptional solution at a highly competitive price point.
